Spanish Translation : Ballena (Whale) + Arca (Ark)
Ten makers, welders, puppeteers, musicians and performers collaborated to create Ballenarca - the 11’ tall, 36’ long, life-size, female sperm whale made of metal, wood, fiberglass and foam.
In December 2014, Ballenarca debuted in a nonstop parade from the Museum of Human Achievement in Austin to Art Basel in Miami, bringing free art to the public as a giant puppet show, a musical sculpture and a living museum, where the audience is ALWAYS invited to step inside the belly of the beast.
The artists behind Ballenarca created free interactive street performances in Austin, New Orleans, Atlanta, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, Miami and on.... Thanks to our many hosts, including:
IBEX Puppetry, Heather Henson Foundation - Orlando, Florida
